Paper Shoot Cameras are built to last years. With proper care and materials, including AAA rechargeable batteries, your Paper Shoot will last as long as you want it to.
Nope! Don’t be fooled by the name - the “paper” only refers to the outer casing and isn’t exactly what you’re thinking! The Paper Shoot is encased in stone paper, which is a highly durable material made from pressed limestone and biodegradable resin. It is waterproof, drop-proof, and just as durable as plastic casing; it’s just good for the planet!
The camera boards across the website come in two variants: our newer, higher-quality 18MP, and our classic 16MP.
The difference in our pricing and cameras reflects the variants as well as the different bundles and accessories that come with each. You can check what’s included with your camera in our product page's “what’s included” tab!

Paper Shoot is the perfect sustainable alternative to disposable, film, and other digital cameras. It is curated in its design, experience, and photo aesthetic to emulate film!
If you love the idea of using film but aren’t fond of the ongoing costs and constantly developing, this is perfect for you!
Using your phone to take photos is a personal choice - if you’re happy with your phone, go for it! Tons of people love using Paper Shoot specifically because they don’t want to be on their phones so much. It allows us to take a much-needed break from our screens while still having the ability to capture memories and live in the moment. The Paper Shoot is not an alternative to phones in any capacity - they are only alternatives for film and disposables.
Using a disposable or film camera instead of the Paper Shoot is a personal choice. There is no right or wrong answer! What draws people to Paper Shoot over disposables particularly is their added features of additional filters, video and timelapse, and the cost - the Paper Shoot is a one-time, completely reusable purchase that allows you to take unlimited photos with no developing or printing needed. Disposables, on the other hand, average between $15-$20 a camera, plus $15-$20 developing for only 27 photos! You’d only need to go through 3-4 disposable cameras to make up for the price of one Paper Shoot, which you’ll have for years and can take as many photos as you want!
Whatever type of camera works for you is the best choice! There are different varieties and choices for different types of people, and there is no wrong answer! The Paper Shoot is not meant to emulate DSLRs - we are not trying to mimic the quality, experience, and technology. If you’re looking for a higher-tech camera, then go for it! There are tons of great cameras on the market that will work perfectly for you. The Paper Shoot is purposefully simplistic and minimal, emulating only 35mm film.
The Paper Shoot is entirely digital! It runs on AAA rechargeable batteries and 128GB SD cards. Using the USB cable that comes with your camera, you can recharge your camera whenever and continually empty and reuse your SD card, meaning you can take unlimited photos. Camera specs are available under the “specs’ tab on each product page.
To take a video on your Paper Shoot, plug it into a portable charger, switch to the third filter, and press the shutter button. It will take a 10-second video! To take a timelapse, repeat the same steps but switch to the fourth filter. Let your camera take photos for 30 minutes for a 10-second timelapse!
There are a few different ways to see your photos! Since the Paper Shoot runs entirely on SD cards, you only need to plug your USB cable into your computer! Alternatively, you can purchase a Wifi SD card, which will allow you to see your photos without a cable, or you can purchase a phone-SD card adapter to download Paper Shoot photos directly to your phone.
While the Paper Shoot does not currently have a built-in flash, we have a detachable ring light! Rather than creating a new camera with the flash upgrade, we wanted to create an option allowing any customer access to a flash for their camera. If you’ve previously purchased a camera and would like the flash attachment, just ensure that you have a screw-ring case to attach it properly!
The Paper Shoot is made entirely from repurposed, biodegradable, and recycled materials. This is a big question, so check out our Sustainability Resource Page for more information.

We know that Paper Shoot is a little bit more expensive, which directly correlates to our ethics and sustainability! All of Paper Shoot's materials are high quality, recycled, repurposed, or biodegradable! our technology is made from repurposed tech, and our stone paper casing is biodegradable. we also use recycled wood, fiberglass, vegetable leather, brass, and other metals. Additionally, technology is expensive. Often, when companies can compromise on their pricing, their ethics and sustainability are what's on the table.
Paper Shoot uses ethical labor and pays living wages to all of our employees worldwide! We understand that we are not the cheapest camera product on the market, and we don't want to be!
At Paper Shoot, we don't believe that we are entitled to a profit at our planet's and its people's expense. we are committed to producing responsibly!
